We would expect to provide our own project management which follows the following pattern:
-
You will make an initial contact as the customer to present us with a product concept proposal, usually verbally.
After an ad-hoc meeting within our design team we will reply, usually by telephone, to the proposal and offer to bid for the contract.
-
Further discussions between ourselves and yourselves will lead to the firming up of the contract and we will open a file
and issue a project number. Some investigation work may be necessary on our part at this stage. A single point of contact for all
technical matters and a single point of contact for all other contractual matters will be established between us and you. You may
find it helpful to visit our site and will be most welcome.
-
After a formal proposal and technical specification is provided by you we will make a formal quotation with delivery
schedules and costing. We would expect a large project to be divided into separate work-packages each with a definite endpoint and
milestones.
-
After you have accepted our quotation we will expect a small token of your commitment before formally starting work.
At this stage a visit to your site by us may be appropriate.
-
Most large projects operate in an incremental manner. This spreads our risk, your costs, and allows us to be extremely
flexible as your project develops. We will keep you informed of our progress at each milestone and will expect to be quickly
informed of changes to the project that may affect our work. We understand that you may have other contractors working on other
parts of the project. We will be flexible on electrical and mechanical interfaces between the electronics we are developing and
the other parts of your project. We will expect you to make your best endevours to meet any technicial demands we may make from the
other parts of your project. This is especially important in the areas of the provision of power, physical space and looming for
our electronics within your casings and cabinets.
-
A prototype system would usually be produced to iron out any final problems before proceeding to production quantities.
